Like many tourists visiting Japan, I like to explore factory outlets. And I love huge factory outlet malls with lots of top international brand names showcasing their products at affordable prices.
My recent retail therapy at the Mitsui factory outlet at Sendai Port, the largest factory outlet in Tohoku, was a blast. It is a haven for shoppers, particularly for those who are looking for branded apparels and sportswear for ladies.
More than 120 International and Local Brands
Located in Sendai Port area, the Mitsui Outlet Park is about 30 minutes from Sendai Station. With the JR pass, I took Senseki Line from JR Sendai Station, alighted at Nakanosakae Station(the ride was about 18 mins) and walked about 10 minutes to the mall.
Mitsui Outlet Park Sendai houses more than 120 international and local brands in the two-storey compound. Coach, Ferragamo, Tommy Hilfiger, Gap, Crocs, LeSportsac, Nine West, Wacoal, Triump, Adidas, Puma, Asics and the list goes on.
Factory Outlet: Coach Bags
Even though many of the items may be from the previous season, it is still a good bargain as you may find Coach handbags going at 30% discount. So, it is not surprising to see Coach factory outlet is always crowded with “bagaholics” hunting for holiday sales.
At Mitsui Outlet Park Sendai, besides designer fashion outlets, there are also fashion accessories, children’s wear, men’s apparel and homeware stores, making this factory outlet mall a convenient place to shop. You can also grab some local Tohoku souvenirs and specialties at the Market Street.
“Mori no Kitchen”
For those who are not a fan for shopping or needed to dine and chill after a day of shopping, can enjoy authentic Japanese food at the “Mori no Kitchen”(Forest Kitchen) on the second floor. This specially designed food court with an outdoor dinning space can cater for large crowds during weekends or festival season.
If you prefer fine dining, there are several restaurants which serve Japanese and Italian cuisines. Or, if you enjoy a cup of piping hot coffee, grab your caffeine doses at Tully’s.
