Hong Kong Horizon Plaza at Ap Lei Chau

Horizon Plaza Hong Kong

On the surface, Horizon Plaza in Hong Kong seems to be every shopper’s dream come true: more than 150 factory outlet shops spread over 28 floors, selling every imaginable item under one roof. Located on the south coast of Hong Kong, Horizon Plaza at Ap Lei Chau is slightly off the beaten track, so the most convenient way to get there is to take a taxi from Hong Kong island. But we learnt that it is not too difficult to take a bus from Central MTR station. Hence, it is advisable to book a hotel near Central MTR station if you plan to visit all the factory outlets in Aberdeen.

For direction, see below – How to get to Horizon Plaza Hong Kong. You will recognize the building when you are there because, it is ironically located next to the ‘flashy’ Ferrari car showroom.

The building is not distinctive but inside it houses many high-end fashion brands like Joyce, Land Crawford, IT, Armani, Ralph Lauren, etc. All the items are well organized and displayed, which give you a pleasant shopping experience yet at incredible bargains.

MaxMara Fashion Group Warehouse on the 27th floor is one of the mall’s biggest attractions; browse pieces from Juicy Couture and Stella McCartney at low prices. Dresses and tops can go for as low as HKD500.

Joyce, Hong Kong’s leading designer importer, also has an outlet store on the 21st floor and deals mainly with past collections. You can be promised of finding pieces from Balenciaga, Victoria Beckham and Alexander McQueen, with prices marked down to less than HKD2,000. For example, I bought a long sleeve Anna Sui T-shirt at HKD200, the original price was double the amount. One interesting thing I noticed was the price tag indicated different prices tagged to the seasonal months. The longer the item stays on the shelve, the cheaper it becomes. If I have bought the T-shirt one month earlier, I would have to pay additional HKD50 more.

Both Joyce and MaxMara specialize in dresses and clothes, but also have a limited range of shoes and accessories.

Address: 21/F Horizon Plaza, 2 Lee Wing Street, Ap Lei Chau, Hong Kong

Lane Crawford Horizon Plaza

Lane Crawford, one of the mall’s biggest outlet stores, is the place to go if you’re looking for shoes and bags. Located on the 25th floor, it offers items from Marc Jacobs, Marni and Christian Louboutin at half price. Some of the off-season fashion can go as low as 80% discount. It also stocks designer furniture and a good selection of Men clothes.

Pompeii, on the 22nd floor, is also great for bags – bags from Yves Saint Laurent can go for as low as HKD1300. Other brands include Tods, Gucci and Prada.

Food

Sift Patisserie, also on the 22nd floor, makes for a perfect mid-shopping snack stop. Check out the red velvet or lemon cupcake (or if you’re feeling particularly peckish, have both) – absolutely scrumptious.

Also stop by Pacific Gourmet on the 12th floor, which is similar to Dean & Deluca. The gourmet deli offers a range of fresh groceries and mouth-watering wine from around the world.

Furniture and Pets

For those whose furry friends are family, visit Whiskers & Paws on the 10th floor, one of Hong Kong’s biggest pet stores. You’ll be amazed at the range of products here and if you happen to visit on a Sunday, you’ll be treated to a puppy playdate with puppies up for adoption from the Hong Kong Dog Rescue.

TREE & TREEkids on the 28th floor is an eco furniture store, and probably one of the family-friendliest establishments in the entire city. The café is perfect for families to unwind after a day of hard shopping, while energetic children can head over to the play area.
