But what makes a Hong Kong shopping experience different are the factory outlet stores. Hong Kong factory outlet stores often sell branded goods at marked down prices. Many factory outlet stores dot the island and it’s possible to get things from everything from Adidas to Burberry at discounted prices.

1. Citygate Hong Kong

Any frequent shopper in Hong Kong would have heard of Citygate Hong Kong. Located in Lantau, Citygate is a one-stop destination for those looking exclusively for a good bargain. Home to more than 80 brands, discounts can go up to as high as 70% here. Brands on sale include Dunhill, Kate Spade and Coach.

Bargain hunters should set aside a few hours to sieve out good deals – most items are usually marked down by 30%, but this changes depending on the product’s season. Built specifically for factory outlets, the mall is Hong Kong’s go-to destination for branded bargains and is easily accessible by MTR (Tung Chung station).

2. Prada Space Outlet Hong Kong

Less-known outlet devoted to Prada, this is a must-visit for all luxury shoppers. Prada Space offers products of past collections from Prada, Prada Sport and Miu Miu. Items on sale include women’s and men’s clothing, sunglasses and shoes at prices that can be marked down by as much as 65%.

The store is popular among locals, so tourists should be prepared for disappointment as popular sizes usually run out quickly. As Space is located in a residential area, it is slightly inaccessible. The easiest way to get to Space would be either by taxi or bus, not MTR.

3. Horizon Plaza Outlet

Horizon Plaza, originally a large warehouse, is a mall boasting more than 150 shops spread over 28 floors. Its wide variety of shops makes up for its relative lack of accessibility – furniture and bedding stores sit alongside international fashion outlets and supermarkets.

Horizon Plaza is also home to Hong Kong’s largest bookstore, Eslite, which occupies three floors and over 40,000 sq ft. The mall is a perfect destination for shoppers who want to get their shopping fix under one roof, especially families, who can enjoy its family-friendly facilities. However, there are fewer factory outlets here than in Citygate Hong Kong and many items are sold at full price.
