Shamrock Hotel Hong Kong

Centrally located in the heart of Kowloon on Nathan Road, the Shamrock Hotel Hong Kong is good for short as well as long stays. The price is just about right and given the amenities offered, you get good value for money. The location of the Shamrock hotel near the exit of Jordan MTR and bus stop for route 9 makes it easily accessible and convenient for tourists who would like to go around the city.

At HKD810 or USD104 for a standard room with breakfast, the hotel is slightly above the budget travelers but entices the tourists since the services offered by the hotel make it ideal for first time visitors as well as repeat visitors to Hong Kong.

What I like about Shamrock Hotel Hong Kong

I have stayed in this hotel on more than one occasion and my experience gets better with each stay. The rooms are nice and airy and the staff courteous. The location of the hotel in the middle of the shopping area added to the benefits that I got from staying here. The breakfast and the room service are excellent and there is a money changer right across the street. There is provision for Wi-Fi internet access though the tariff is on the higher side.

You can choose the rooms facing the street if you want a good view of the skyline though the rooms at the back of the hotel are not that good as far as the view are concerned. The reason I keep going back to this hotel is because of its location in the heart of downtown Kowloon. I can go and shop as well as visit any place in Hong Kong with an Octopus (MTR) card and the travel is a breeze.

What I dislike about Shamrock Hotel Hong Kong

The rooms are not that big and certainly out of bounds for more than 2 people. So, if you are planning a trip with your family, you need to book more than 1 room. The breakfast gets repetitive making one wish for a change of menu. As I stayed a few times, I can say from experience that the menu ought to be rotated for better dinning experiences for Novelty’s sake.

The rooms can get claustrophobic for those are used to larger spaces and the bathrooms pose a challenge for those above 6 feet height. The area surrounding the hotel is dingy (as is the case in a densely populated area like Kowloon) and this can put some people off.

How to Get to Shamrock Hotel Hong Kong

Take a train from the airport to the Jordan MTR station or take a bus to the bust stop where route number 9 plies and from there it is a short ride to the hotel. Getting in and around Hong Kong is easy because of the location of the hotel and there are several tourist places nearby that make the visit fruitful for tourists. All in all, I had a memorable experience staying in Shamrock Hotel.
