Pan Pacific Bali Golf Course and Tanah Lot

Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Resort is well known for the best location to capture Tanah Lot Sunset. A 5-star hotel in Bali built near Tanah Lot Temple with breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. It is renowned for its 18-hole world class golf course, great facilities and an ideal venue for holding a wedding party. Many didn’t know this Pan Pacific resort at Tanah Lot was previously known as Le Meridien Nirwana Hotel.

As it is located far from the usual noisy touristy areas, Pan Pacific Bali provides guests with absolute privacy. But if hotel guests need some day retail therapy or late night party, the resort also runs free shuttles to Seminyak and Kuta on alternate days.

I booked a king-sized bed with ocean view at USD190 nett per night (no breakfast). If you are not particular with the ocean view, a twin-bedded room with garden view at USD160 nett per night is a better deal. The rooms are slightly aged but spacious, cozy, clean and beautiful layout. I especially like the bathroom that has a window that opens to the bedroom. Free internet access is another plus point.

My intention of staying at Pan Pacific Bali is to capture Tanah Lot’s splendid sunset. While waiting to get ready for the sunset of Tanah Lot, I ordered a large Bintang, a local beer (IDR96,800 / USD11.50) at Sunset Lounge to cool down the late afternoon heat.

I had a simple dinner at the Cendana Restaurant that served both international and local cuisine. As I needed something simple and soupy, I was disappointed that the only soup found on the menu was spicy Tom Yam soup. I made a special request to the restaurant staff for a simple chicken soup noodle (Soto Ayam) and was delighted that the helpful staff acceded to my request. The noodle is priced at IDR96,800 or USD11.50 which is not cheap for a small bowl of soup noodle. A bottle of Coke costed IDR38,720 or USD4.50… a truly 5-star price tag.

Tips: If you need stock up on instant noodles, beer, soft drinks, chips and etc. at the cheap local prices for your stay at the 5-star resort, do stop by the small supermarket in the Tanah lot village on the way to the hotel.

Next morning, I checked out the facilities of the hotel: there is a Fitness Centre, seven swimming pools, two tennis courts and two squash courts. At the pool, the pool staff pampered its guests by bringing you towels and complementary mineral water served in an ice bucket. I was further impressed when a pool staff served me complementary chilled watermelon when I was soaking in the pool and enjoying the waterslide.

The Nirwana Spa is stunning but like all spas in the 5-star hotels, they are expensive. A 45-minute traditional Balinese massage costed a hefty IDR459,800 (USD54)! At Ubud, I reckoned that a 60-minute massage at IDR121,000 (USD14) was just as good if not better.

Grill Restaurant Beef BurgerBefore I left, I ordered a sinful juicy beef burger (IDR145,200 or USD17) and a Mediterranean pizza (IDR121,000 or USD14) topped with goat cheese at the Grill restaurant. Both were delicious and filling. Verdict of the stay is food served in the restaurants is generally yummy and hotel staff are very warm and courteous.

For a relaxing getaway holidays, great facilities, good scenic views of Tanah Lot temple and with opportunities for golf, Pan Pacific Bali would not disappoint you.
