Tip #7: Paris Shopping Tips
In Paris, there is a famous departmental store called Printemps (pronounced as pran-toms). Printemps is like our Singapore Takashimaya departmental store. They carry lots of products from luxury brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Burberry to fashion brands like G-star, Diesel, Armani, Jil Sander, Calvin Klein and Hugo Boss. So, I researched on what are the money saving tips to shop at Printemps, Paris.
Tourists are entitled to 10% discount to most of the merchandise (exclude almost all major luxury brands) bought from Printemps store. To enjoy the 10% discount, before you leave your country, visit the website: departmentstoreparis.printemps.com and register your particulars and print out the discount coupon.
LV Bags Cheaper in Paris
Show the coupon along with your passport when you make a purchase at Printemps and you may be qualified for the 10% discount. Together with the tax refund of 12% (you must spend above €175, combined or single receipt in the same store, same day), the savings can be substantial!
Even without the 10% discount on the luxury goods, a 12% tax refund plus good currency exchange rates, a LV bag I bought in Paris is at least S$800 cheaper than if I were to buy from a LV outlet in Singapore. Of course, make sure you buffer ample time to queue at the tax refund counter at the airport to file for the tax rebate.
