When I first heard about factory outlet malls shopping in Tokyo, I thought it was just one huge factory outlet park somewhere not too far from Tokyo. Of course, I was very wrong. There are actually many factory outlets – big and small, throughout the Kantō region and all are within 30-min travelling time.
If you are in Tokyo and plan to visit Mount Fuji, you should also make a trip to the Gotemba Premium Outlets – 御殿場プレミアムアトレット. It is a very popular outlet mall among tourists, located at Gotemba city, near the foot of Mt Fuji. So if you are planning a day trip to visit Mount Fuji, follow by shopping at Gotemba Premium Outlets, do factor in ample travelling time. As Gotemba Premium Outlets is quite far from Tokyo central and will require about 2 hours travelling time, both by train and bus.
For those who stay near Mt Fuji, the journey from Kawaguchiko Station(河口湖駅) to Gotemba is surprising far too. It still takes around 1.5 hours by bus to reach there! So, do set off early to ensure you have ample time for your shopping spree.
If you are in a hurry and do not have a whole day to go shop at the Gotemba factory outlets, you may visit Mitsui Outlet Park Makuhari instead, about 30 min from Tokyo central.

How to Get There
There is a free shuttle bus service which operates from 9.30am to 10.40pm at 20 minutes interval. It picks up passengers from JR Gotemba Station (Otome Exit) via Tomei Gotemba Interchange to Gotemba Premium Outlets.
